Re: [Jambo] Raila Cannot Afford to loose ODM Nomination Barack Abonyo wrote: Dear All It is my loud thinking. You can crucify me for it or you can sit down and say "Damn! this is something to think about". Mzee Oginga Odinga lived his life for the masses. I remember when I was a young man, they used to point at his house to me just near Kimathi Estate and I used to wonder why such a warrior never lived to enjoy his loot. Whether that was his true house, I did not care. It was just too modest for a former possible president's house. It is during those days that I chose to study Odinga the man. Very principled indeed, the man chose to fight the white man through the precinct of the law. And since they did respect the law, they finally agreed to deliver to him power at a time when power meant riches and comfortable living not only for ones family but also his neighbors, friends, village and tribesmen. Who in the world would not like to feel like a king in Africa? Endowed with great intelligence without such "a big deal" education, he beat the white man in their game. But something was a miss. He was too good for Africa. In Africa there is no voice for the weak and if you are the voice you die with the weak. The weak themsleves will literally kill you if you side with them. This is what Odinga did not know. He thought he would be a hero to the kikuyus by saying "Kenyatta tosha". Remember at this time most of the kikuyus were the weak. They were either in "concentration camps " or jail. Why do you think Odinga did this? I do not think he did this because Kenyatta did anything much more than what he did for our independence. Of course Kenyatta had a role similar to that of Karl Marx while Odinga had that of Martin Luther King. And as usual reason beats the buck faster than war. To answer this question, Odinga handed over the mantle to kenyatta simply because he, Odinga was just a very very good man with a good heart, a heart of God, so to speak. He knew how to let others lead. He knew there is no weakness in letting others lead and he thought there is strength in believeing that others could do better than you. However, he was wrong. He was wrong because he was living in the wrong part of the world where thugs are concidered heroes. Yes we are here. Kenyatta became president, surrounded himself with thugs, put Odinga in jail, killed Mbuya, JM and any descenting voice. Kenyatta failed the test of a good man because he knew his enviroment. He knew in Africa tribe is first. You can have a friend from another tribe but in leadership you cannot trust him. Can Africa move from this? Yes we can but as at now we are still here. Raila Amollo Odinga we are here. We can move forward but we are still in Egypt we have to cross Jordan. You being a good man like your father failed to know that Africa prides in her fools and kills her heroes. In just five minutes you gave it to Kibaki. You said Kibaki Tosha and the kikuyus said yap! here we go again! Another fool is here! Lets get all we can get.! Could you have chosen someone else? yes you could have chosen Wamalwa. What do you think Kibaki could have done if you chose Wamalwa. I would like to answer that question. He could have quit and vied for presidency on his own. Unforturenately you did not learn from your father. I hope you did not take it that I challenged your intelligence. I am just a whistle being blown to make your ears uncomfortable, probably just an annoying bother to wake you up. All that is past, it is done and gone. The question is What are you go na do? This is the dilemma I am faced with as a kenyan. Without Raila, there is no meaningful opposition in kenya. Kibaki will go in "Nyalodia" . However, how long must good men work hard, suffer, and even die only to hand in power to selfish people who later on wreck the country. As everyone should know if you dont work very hard for something, you will never know its value. We need only one Moses to take us out of Egypt and Riala is probably the good man who could do it. After working this hard in ODMK Raila cannot afford to hand it to somebody just because he is likeable. Raila must win nomination but if he doesn't, he should not support somebody else. If Raila continue the trend of handing over power to other people, he will die a nobody in kenyan history because this time they will put him in jail and kill him and the luos this time will suffer like it has never happened before. It is time for Raila to know that he is in Africa. And in Africa an underdog is likeable and looks weak but once in power he becomes a tiger that eats all your children. Raila should never never repeat his father's mistakes and if he does, then this may be the time the luos shift their alliance to a different family since they are stuck with specific families anyway.
