But a close check on the body of the deceased, whose name was given only as Mr.Chikuku revealed that the body had three stub wounds. This aroused the suspicion that the man might have been killed elsewhere within the Sugarview hotel and his body hanged in the hotel room to conceal his death. So far, the incident, which took place on Tuesday at about 11.00 am has sent shockwaves to the residents of Awendo, the small farming town in Migori district. Sugarview Hotel belongs to the Rongo MP, Mr. George Mbogoh Ochillo Ayacko. Further reports emerging from Awendo reveal that the police have already placed five people in the cells to facilitate further investigation of the incident .All the suspects are said to be hotel workers employed by the MP. Awendo and Rongo town, both in Migori district, are prone to serious crimes and most alarming insecurity. A year ago, a prominent witchdoctor, the late Ohodho Ja Alego was murdered and his dismembered body thrown into nearby River Sare, with multiple panga cuts seen all over the body. His assailants took away Ksh. 40,000 and gang raped his two wives. The witchdoctor's killing was later linked to local politics. A prominent politician in Awendo is alleged to have intervened and tried to release from custody a number of suspects. The killing of the witchdoctor has since become the most controversial political issue in the forthcoming general election, with the voters now demanding that the unnamed politician, who had influenced the release of the suspects, clear his name and come out clean of the incident The latest murder of Mr Chikuku in mysterious circumstances in the Hotel owned by the area MP, Mr. Ayacko complicates his fortunes in the 2007 parliamentary elections.
