Nairobi Vacancy Announcement PLEASE TAKE THIS NOTICE HOME LOCATION: KISUMU VA-28-07 June 4, 2007 Open to: All Interested Candidates Position: Technical Advisor (HIV/AIDS) Opening: June 5, 2007 Closing: June 19, 2007 Work Hours: Full-time; 40 hours/week Salary: Not-Ordinarily Resident: Position Grade: FP-4 Ordinarily Resident: Position Grade: FSN-501-11 In-house candidates must apply through their Supervisors. NOTE: ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS ALLOWING EMPLOYMENT IN COUNTRY PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR THIS POSITION. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Kisumu has an opening for the position of Technical Advisor (HIV/AIDS). The position will be available immediately. Basic Function: The Technical Advisor will lead and supervise all HIV/AIDS care work for CDC Kenya at selected delivery and study sites in Nyanza Province. The TAHA will contribute to local, provincial and national levels regarding treatment activities by participating in meetings and task force activities, curriculum development, and trainings. Supervisory duties include the supervision of a multicultural team, implementing care activities, and working with partner agencies and groups. Technical duties include leading efforts to ensure care activities are based on the latest relevant science, and that scientific knowledge is translated into program guidelines and practices for both Opportunistic infections (OI) prophylaxis and (Antiretroviral) ARV use. Strategic Planning duties include representing CDC Kenya at the highest levels, including donor meetings and meetings of technical strategy and policy groups. Qualifications Required: NOTE: All applicants are instructed to address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each criterion. ? Medical qualification (United States MD or equivalent) is required. ◊ At least 3 years of specialist experience in the clinical management of HIV/AIDS, including experience with the use of Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) and OI prophylaxis is required. ◊ At least 3 years of medical and public health experience in developing countries, with an emphasis on HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, or reproductive health is required. ◊ Must have strong computer skills, and ability to communicate orally and in writing. Must be able to produce written reports and use spread sheets and data base software packages. ◊ Must have technical knowledge of clinical medicine, epidemiology, and public health relevant to the African setting. ◊ Must have demonstrated ability to guide, motivate a large, technically and culturally diverse staff at assigned program sites in conducting complex programs; plan, coordinate, and prioritize complex interventions in HIV/AIDS care and prevention. Manage, analyze, and report on the substantial program resources allocates for relevant activities at their assigned program sites and ensure that strategic objectives of CDC Kenya are met.
