Who owns the vehicle that transports you from the nearest town to your village? Who owns the internet café, or the call center that you use when you go home? Who makes the furniture for your home town? Who supplies the building materials? Who makes the coffins? Who owns the mortuary? Who supplies the dry ice for fish traders in your beach? Who owns the andururu (motor boat)? Who owns the NGO that comes around my village only once in a while? Who supplies the food to the humanitarian organizations in Congo, Southern Sudan, Northern Uganda and North Eastern Kenya? Who processes the fish carcasses into dog food for export? Who is jobless in the city with a college degree? Who is educated and still howling, “I can’t find a job”? Who owns that new farmers market just outside the city? Who owns that barter bank?
