Nyabera / Mbaka-oromo / Nametsa road project on wednesday 20th june 2007 held its second annual general meeting in attempts to enforce resolution towards the community road maintenance and development program. The meeting held at Israel church of Kenya within Mbaka oromo village, saw the project endorse various resolutions aimed at enhancing community road network. Among various resolutions endorsed were compulsory membership and registration fee of Kshs. 50 to all residence of Nyabera, Mbaka oromo and Nametsa Villages, expansion of the project committee to include youth and women representatives, compulsory 2hours manual labor to all members on Saturdays as from 30th June 2007 and a compulsory fine of Kshs. 30 to all absentees during the resolved community working days. Also discussed in the meeting was the introduction of road levy to over weight vehicles such as lorries transporting sand to and from various regions within Nyabera, Mbaka oromo and Nametsa Villages, a charge proposed to go towards road maintenance program within the community. There occurred a rift over the first scheme of manual labor with part of the members proposing maintenance as from Nyabera bridge while others proposing maintenance as from got agulu junction, however the meeting passed resolution to first improve the less dilapidated road from got Agulu junction in to Nyabera then to Mbaka oromo, before embarking on Nyabera bridge through Mbaka oromo village in to Nametsa up Maanga Kakamega junction. The third annual general meeting has been scheduled for 4th July 2007 at the same venue within Mbaka oromo village. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
