WECHE MOKADHO JEXJALUO **** ; |
Raila, A National Leader Raila may have been right to refer to Hon. Tuju as a political infant in his napkins. This is justified by the recent activities in which Tuju has been engaged. He (Tuju) chose if not used by a few selfish individuals in the government to launch a party to counteract Luo’s political stand and Raila’s influence in the country, an act that is not reflective of a national leader. I say this because if he were one, he should have spotted a party among those that already exist, and reinvented it to the interests that he believes would serve our country in it’s entirety and not just for Luos nor to vex Raila. This way, I believe he would gather more fame. Secondly, Raila could have referred to Tuju that way because he knew him better and pitied his situation during elections and therefore chose to deliver him from his political naivety, a favor Tuju has negatively reciprocated for. He has grown horns and opted to charge at Raila. But Luos are not asleep; they see and hear, then choose to wait for elections to show how good they can dehorn such people. I would advise Hon Tuju to go with the rhythm of music or risk being pulled from the dance floor. Honestly, Luos are not against Tuju, in fact they love development-conscious people like him, but don’t appreciate those who camouflage on developments projects to accomplish other Kikuyu’s selfish interests in Luoland. Luos know and have experienced tragedy that accompanied such treachery and betrayals. Assertions that Nyachaye performs better at the Ministry of Energy than Raila used to when he headed the same ministry are gravely false. How many Kenyans today complain of receiving high utility bills for which they never use? How many still have to dig deeper into their pockets today to have electricity installed in their homes? How many lose their electronic appliances to power surge today for mistakes not of their own? and How many jua kali businessmen are thrown out of their businesses today? Answers to these questions may clearly show how the present ministry of Energy is rotten with corruption, inefficiency and incompetence. Nyachae never bothered to thank his constituents after they voted him to parliament. All he did was fly over gussiland in his helicopter which lately they(Abagussi) have grown tired of seeing and now expect to see food on their tables instead. Nyachae has not initiated any major development project in his area. All that is there was initiated by Mr. Omanga. He has left no legacy in his constituency to prove his leadership qualities. It’s also ironical that Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) which is under Nyachae’s docket realized profits recently yet many of its employees barely make ends meet! Doesn’t this lead us to believe that the profits are siphoned elsewhere? The organization of KPLC into a profit generating company has compromised competitiveness in the industry as the company is heavily backed by the government. Lately the ministry has been sending poles and not power to those who ask for such services, not caring about the huge installation costs they pay in advance. Unlike Nyachae, Raila brought an end to power rationing exercise that had ravaged the country a few years ago. Raila managed to improve Kenya’s electricity supply and slashed expenditure by eliminating middle men who colluded with greedy individuals in the government to import generators whose quality was questionable. Who never heard about the confiscation of generators at the port because of suspected evasion of import duty? Raila Amollo has shown it and will show it again. Those who say he erroneously tore away other people’s houses when he was at the helm of the ministry of housing are grossly misled. As a leader who cares about a decent and organized plan for the city, he has made sure that major roadways are preserved strictly for roads and not anything else. Those who went against this of course by erecting homes along the roads and streets met his wrath and now live in sorrow and regret. It doesn't go without mention that his act of selfless patriotism may have cost him the housing docket. Those who discredit him for returning roads money to the treasury have no sanity to see how that could be wiser than the direction taken by others to stash such monies in private foreign accounts. In fact the money he returned to the treasury was recovered from a contractor whose quality of work he realized was questionable. To those who refer to him as a person without a stand, they should compare where they come from with the constituency Raila represents. Doesn’t it take leadership to champion the rights of the poor, destitute and the voiceless like those who inhabit Langata? He’s a leader with feelings for human suffering, and this explains why he is fighting for a better constitution. Raila Amollo has no tribalistic views as expressed by a few malicious individuals. If he were one, he wouldn't have preferred to represent a multi-tribal constituency like Langata, instead he would have opted for some constituency in Luoland. At least today Kenya does not lose money for roads on bad tenders. Today we Kenyans appreciate the democracy for which the likes of Jaramogi and his son Raila tirelessly fought. M.A. Oyugi Agwanda.
