Rachuonyo District Youth Furum Provisional Profile and Concept Paper
We members of the Rachuonyo district youth Forum brought together by the shared values of unity and prosperity, and being strongly committed to the promotion of social, cultural, economic and the well being of the youth are passionately convicted that the most effective way through which we can promote the well-being of the youth of Rachuounyo District is by coming together into a strong partnership with the leaders, the Elite, business community, the informal sector, non governmental organizations and other youth partners.
We believe that in order to achieve the above, there are certain key sectors whose efficient and effective management are crucial.
THE YOUTH
A country’s future is dependent on its youth. If the youth is not adequately prepared, then the future leadership of our country will be obviously in jeopardy. The Rachuonyo district Youth forum believes that the most effective way of preparing our youth is to give them appropriate education and training; inculcate into them good moral values, and expose them to areas of leadership like policy makers, decision makers, good communicators, facilitators, enablers, negotiators, resource mobilisers, overseers and institutional builders. The Rachuonyo district youth forum together with our willing partners shall ensure that the youth is adequately prepared.
POVERTY ERADICATION
We believe that anti-poverty can only be successful if we unleash the energies of the youth living in poverty and enable them to gain access treasures including capital to improve their situation especially for the youth and the society they live in which will in turn promote social justice and harmony in the society and create job opportunity and wealth empowerment.
THE ECONOMY
In order to attain a good standard of living for our youth, the economy must obviously grow at an annual rate that is double the population growth of the youth and at the same time produces job opportunities that can absorb at least 75% of the youth labour force that is released into the job market annually. The Rachuonyo District youth forum believes that pursuing pragmatic micro and macro economic policies can attain this.
EDUCATION
Education is both a measure of and also the process of producing an appropriate labour force for country’s development. In order for the district to achieve rapid economic development including industrialization, the district needs huge reservoir of a well-trained and educated labour force. Such a labour force can most effectively be prepared through an educated system that appropriately imparts a combination of theoretical and knowledge at all levels. The youth development forum shall endeavor to promote such an education system for the district youth.
INDUSTRIALIZATION
Historically no country has ever developed without embracing industrialization. To see the district industrialized by the year 2020 is the vision of the Rachuonyo District youth forum. The achievement of this will require a well-trained youth force and efficient physical infrastructure, sufficient energy and water resources optimally producing agricultural
We are planning to convene a meting son to discuss the above issues fo all the Rachuonyos. The conveners shal be the youths themselves led by Jagendia douglas Otieno Onoka, Charles Bugo Adongo,Otieno Owida and myself kindly send us your response.
