Don't Neglet Luos Asiyo Tells The Government A FORMER Karachuonyo MP , Phoebe Asiyo , has a passionate appeal to the government to integrate all Kenyan community to promote national cohession. Asiyo said president Kibaki must personally come forward and offer leadership that will see all communities working towards a common development goal. The former constitution review commissioner said it was the wish of all Kenyans that that they live as one tribe but a few selfish individuals in president Kibaki's government were disintegrating them into tribal cocoons. She said the Luo community , for instance , needed special recognition following their support to the Narc government during the 2002 general elections when they voted to the last man. Asiyo urged the government to accord the Luo ''total respect'' and include them in areas of key eecision saying the community had some of the best brains needed to transform the country's socio-economic standing. Asiyo said the community should be included in the government and given free hand to enjoy the fruits of indipendence , including gunning for the presidency without being viewed with suspicion. '' We are Kenyans too and our support to this government must not be taken for granted. It is clear there can be no stable government without the Luo,'' said Asiyo. She said president Kibaki should rise above tribal linings and accomodate the community and other Kenyans in his government irrespective of their parties of affiliations. She said the skirmishes inb parts of the country were politically instigated to cause fear among various communities just because some few selfish leaders wanted to embed their stay in power. Speaking to the press at her residence in Kanyaluo , Karachuonyo constituency , Asiyo said the Luo community voted for president Kibaki to the last man and therefore they deserved better treatment. ''We as a community voted for Kibaki to the last man and as I knew him , having worked with him , I had confidence that he was the right person to help this country but what we see now is complete reverse,'' said Asiyo. Asiyo said it was not wrong for a Luo to have presidential ambition noting that the constitution allowed every Kenyan with stipulated qualifications to contest the seat. Asiyo urged the community not to relent in their support for Raila Odinga's presidential bid saying he was the only annointed liberator for the Luo. '' It has reached a time we must not allow our selves to be mis used by other people. We have what it takes to seek leadership of this country,'' said Asiyo.
