Press Release on Boda Boda ban in Kisumu City, The LUOCOME-CANADA have learned with grave regret the behavior of the Kisumu City Council in banning the boda boda business in the Central Business District of Kisumu. It is unfortunate that the Kisumu Councilors did not consider that the CBD drop and pick ups and night shifts for boda boda operators are the only places and times they make money for their families upkeeps. By so banning them to operation in these areas and time, it is totally capitalist tendency to render them jobless and increasing criminal activities. Most of the day/night travelers often uses the bodaboda instead of Gikuyus and Abugussi taxis which are damn expense as the alternative affordable means of transport within Kisumu and it's outskirt. The Kisumu Police should not blame in security on the boda boda transporters for this is a national problem of government.Kisumu is not as worse as mugging in Nairobi and Nakuru streets in day/nights.Otherwise the police should be ordered to offer them security and protection during their public service at night to the taxpayers. The boda boda provides employment for the luo community in Kisumu as the industry created by Kibaki's Tosha governmet which the voted 90%. And is the only means of transport accessible and available in case of emergencies at day/night, it stands in for the ambulance transports to hospitals, it does offer transport for those who work nights shifts and many of poor luo women food mongers and hawkers at 'Chiro Mbero, Kondele, Okonyo welo, working after dark to put food in the table for their poor families living in slums below one dollar / day. Bodaboda are registered organization with well elected leaders, with proper identifications tags and have designated ares of operations, therefore by terming them as criminals of liability is the Government scheme to further the suffering to the luos.It is also deceitful for the council to make such degree at the time when the luos are suffering rejection in terms of employments from the nepotist government of Gikuyus. In fact the Kisumu City Council and Kisumu Town Resident Association (Kitrewa) are agents of the Mungiki's, TukTuk's and Matatus owners from Central Province who have flooded all the Kisumu Cities routes with old and unroad worthy matatus dump to operates at Kondele Kondele, Nyalenda, Nyamasaria, Otonglo, Mamboleo, Obunga and Dunga Pandpieri from Central Province. The main intention is to maximize exploitation in raising fare at will to increase poverty and desperation for luos. This is Kibaki's capitalist arithmetic of engaging Mungiki's criminals Matatus in Kisumu to loot and rob poor Kisumu residents through imposing the unbearable high fares burden through Local Authority influence to the Kisumu City Council. Among the hundreds of Matutus and Tuk Tuks in Kisumu are own by Mungiki's and the Nyachaes from Abagussi as the poor luos owns Bicycles which is our major means of transport in Luoland where roads are impassable for decades. This is a well designed political strategy before general election to render luos vulnerable to pro-government agents within us for vote buying. Hundreds of luos families will not be able to pay rents, feed, clothe their children if we allow this tactful evil move to succeed. We therefore appeal to all the Kisumu Residents and BodaBoda to demonstrate against the Council decision force back the Boda Boda to our streets and get our straggling generation get back to work and make it difficult for the traitors like Mr Gai Mojo and Kisumu Mayor. Jadolo Okoth Otura, LUOCOME-KANADA Shem Kosse wrote: MASSIVE OUTCRY OVER BODA BODA BAN BY SHEM KOSSE The decision by kisumu city council to designate special points for boda boda cyclists within the town has sparked off a major outcry from the town's major stakeholders within the city and operators concerned. . . .
