GRAFT,TRIBALISM ROCKS RIFT VALLEY RAILWAYS

The take over of Kenya Railways, by the South African
based Rift Valley Railways, has left most of the staff jobless and still
waiting for their terminal benefits.But of great concern is an allegation
that there were unfair retrenchment, as top KR officials biased.
Although Deloitie and Touche were contracted to do the interview,it
has been imeccably established that the list they gave was altered by top
KR officials before being released.
Mostly affected were regional officers and deport supervisors
from Western region, who is said to have used his position to settle personal
scores.
Sources divulged that one of the engineers transfered to Nairobi
had his salary cut to Shs 50,000 per month.
It has also emerged that the Coast Region office is in trouble
as most of the experienced staff were retained due to their closeness to
top KR officials.
A perfect example is that of Mrs Rose Ogwel, currently working
as Personal Officer incharge of Western and Housing.
We have learned that Rift Valley staff have petitioned their MD Roy
Pufet to take action on one G.H Oganyo of Kilindini, for doctoring the list
of staff to be retrenched.
Some other top KR officials who are said to have worked
in cahoots with Deloitte and touche are P.O Nyagilo (Voi) Ogutu (Nairobi)
Ogola Warambo (Nairobi ) Nyokara (Kisumu) and Thaddeus Mogire
