Re: A Case for Luo Leadership in Kenya Dan, I totally agree with your call to give devolution within a Kenya a last shot. I hope that the next president will move speedily to enact a majimbo constitution, giving communities the power to control their resources and their destiny. If that happens, well and good. If not, and especially if it is Kibaki coming back to haunt and hound us again, then I would suggest we explore other alternatives including secession. We have nothing to lose but the deliberate impoverishment of our people by the Kenyan state. As we keep mentioning, we have a lot of resources in Luoland to sustain a successful state. We should not be taking nonsense from anybody. We have the economic capacity to truly transform Luoland into a very prosperous state. The fishing industry alone contributes something like kshs. 7-10 billion to Kenya's treasury every year, and what do our people have to show for it? Nothing? Not exactly. What we have to show for it are assassination of our leaders, daily ridicule, tribal discrimination, poverty, death. But, yes, let us give the Kenyan state a last chance. Meshack Owino.
