Dear youth leader and beloved Kenyan, Are you proud to be a Kenyan?: Our parents have seen us from dippers to ages of 40s but yet dependants. Despite their huge sums of investments in educating us to high credential levels, we are still forced by economic forces to fall back to our parents/guardians for finances. SMEs loans are non realistic and not tailored for a common citizen. High mortgage bank rates are always reported despite banks showing high profits margins. Government incentives e.g. Youth economic empowerment is a mere bate to tame the youths in the forthcoming general elections. While indeed a minority or ghost youths will be beneficiaries of the initiative. The national cake sharing through CDF is not felt but it's well heard and expenditures published. Youths are underemployed and their potential is under utilized. This shows why or translates to high drug abuse, high crime rates and increase in STDS and HIV/AIDS. These feelings are not merely the produce of Young Leaders for Development. They have been conceived and coalesce the pain, dreams, hopes and aspirations of many Kenyans. A quick glimpse at the people's columns in our newspapers or listening to people's conversations in villages, workplaces, seminars, churches, bars, schools, universities, be they elders or young people, men or women, reveals three pertinent questions that are permanently on everyone's lips. These questions are: Is Kenya, in its present condition, the best that it can be? Does it have the potential or capacity to become better? What would need to be done to make the country better and by whom? Who is proud to be Kenyan? Statement of fact Our beloved Kenya and the people of Kenya are experiencing numerous problems today, which politicians are not solving and they need not pretend that all is well and common man is proud to be Kenyan. How can you be proud of this Kenya with the current situation? Besides cost of education, unemployment, rising cost of living and continuous price increases of basic foods, high bank and mortgage rates when banks still show huge profits in their balance sheets, high rents and lack of houses in urban areas because the local authorities and the government have left housing to private developers, increasing cost of electricity which defeats the rural electrification policy, corruption in public projects where millions of shillings disappear in the pocket of individuals, corruption in export and import industry where only privileged people have access, low industrialization rate and degenerating economy, lack of merit and complete disregard of talents for national jobs, duplication of roles in government ministries which are inefficient and costly to maintain to the tax payer, uncontrolled spending in the public sector where government departments and Parastatals are spending millions of shillings buying prestigious cars for public servants when essential priority public services have failed, poor city planning where buildings have been extended in road reserves, water catchments areas and on river banks by greedy leaders, anomalous executive chairman positions in Parastatals where people chair board which employ them, uncontrolled employment in public sector based on feverish, the soaring number of street children and beggars while government is doing nothing. Can this make you to be proud of Kenya? We seek to network with you young leader and advocate for youth political and social economic empowerment and to eliminate old Turks from office and power.
