Re: [KOL] walking down town: Najivunia kuwa Mkenya!!!

JMM,

A lot is truely happenning. I cannot deny.

My only problem is that Kenya should belong to ALL Kenyans. If there is work to be done, let ALL Kenyans benefit. If there are flowers to be planted, let ALL Kenyans do that. If the pot holes are to be filled, let ALL Kenyans have a bit of the cake.

What is currently obtaining, is one community doing ALL work that must be done, hence that community realising an economic improvement of that feel good Kibaki thing of 5.8%.

These guys are going as far as to brake virgin land, just to create work for thier folks. In Komarock, all the side walks have been dug up by these guys, and all the soil left just there. The idea is to keep these select few up with something to do, to create an impression that this is a working nation.

The same obtains across the whole of Nairobi. Who says that the Kisii cannot dig these trenches? Who says that Luhyas cannot plant flowers? Who says that the Pokomo cannot paint our roads? Who says the Rendiles, Ogieks etc cannot fill the pot holes?

My only beef is, why must ALL this work be done by Kikuyus ALONE!

My brothers and sisters from the Kikuyu community are just victims to this tribal economic inspiration. And time has come for the Kikuyu to rise up and also say no. Kenya does not belong to them alone.

All senior appointments go to the Kikuyu. All middle level appointments go to the Kikuyu. All procurement jobs go to the Kikuyu. And now, all manual jobs, are being given to the Kikuyu.

No. This must stop. And the only way to stop this is to marshall all Kenyans to vote out this tribally inclined government. We all want to stay at peace with each other, but what Kibaki and his team is doing, is creating Kikuyus to be the enemies of the people of Kenya.

Kuria,
We need more from you and Oketch since mko kwa ground. Looks like we may return to the glorious days of 60s and 70s when they city was not in the garbage. Wont the counselors get the credit?

Folks, I do not usually go down town- my journey begins in woodley and ends at the round about ya Nairobi hospital!! But today thanks to my daughter I ventured into the city after 5pm. My good word, whatever you say of this government- the glory of the city is returning. A friend dropped me outside Hotel intercontinental and I walked all the way to Moi avenue via 20th century- ma good lord! The city is lit, no potholes, flowers all around even railings have been painted silver. No hang abouts- well except a few kids wanting a bob or two when they saw me coming of out 20thC, having watched "A Night in the Museum" starring one of my favourite comedians- Ben Stiller- they had a deal there- Ksh340 for the movie, hotdog, coke, and porp corns- am not gonna argue with that! It was a good deal- pity the cinema hall seats do not have drinks holders- any way- what fascinated me is just how that part of the city has been transformed- I mean, London had better pull up their socks- and they too have kids that borrow bucks, so do not patronise us Londoners!!

I do not care much if this government is returned to power, but whoever takes over had better not lower the standards!!! I WAS IMPRESSED- Never mind that the queue for number 46 to take me back to my hood was miles and miles round kencom- that was diappointing and I hope someone is looking into it but our city is coming alive!!!!
