ODM-K FLAG-BEARER TO BE NAMED IN JUNE.

The much awaited torch-bearer of the Orange Democratic Movement of Kenya (ODM-K) is to be known in six months time, disclosed Prof Anyang Nyongo, the head of the secretariat that is in charge of the exercise.

Addressing the news conference, Nyongo who is also the Kisumu rural Mp, unveiled the 12-point programme, which was released in Nakuru to mark New Year, which envisions what will endear to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor.

"ODM-Kenya will reduce these gaps and guarantee more equity in the use and distribution of national resources and wealth" said Nyongo, the secretary general.

The party also envisages a prosperous nation in which the rule of law and human rights would be central. "We will ensure economic development that will guarantee the basic needs of people in a secure environment in which all feel at home" added Nyongo who is a renowned economist.

Further, the Mp told the news conference that the party will not accept the fact that a Kenyan child born in this country should go without food, have no proper home, miss going to school, receive no health care and find no work to do and live productively.

This, which is the case in the status quo, is purely attributed to egocentrism and massive graft: "it is because the wealth of our nation is wasted by predatory state and corrupt leadership that hunger, malnutrition, unemployment, homelessness and ignorance still bedevil the majority of our people," he noted with concern.

ODM-Kenya, he reiterated will mobilize the Kenyan masses to ensure that they wrestle the reigns of power from the incumbent authoritarian rule. And, to complete transition process, under democratic environment, and ensure, the dispensation of a new constitution, based on the Bomas draft, which had the image of a common man.

The party's bigwigs who are eyeing for the topmost seat are Raila Odinga, William Ruto, Kalonzo Musyoka, Uhuru Kenyatta, Musalia Mudavadi and Najib Balala.
