One of the leading criminal lawyers in the lakeside city of Kisumu has announced his bid, to vie for the Kisumu Town West parliamentary seat, in the forth coming general elections, later this year. The lawyer, Mr. Ken Pundo, disclosed his ambition in Kisumu hotel to a battery of journalists, saying that he has got all that it takes to steer Kisumu to greater heights of developments. He told the news conference that his decision has been driven by the plight of the constituents, who are yet to realize fully the value of their votes, since the advent of the multiparty politics, in Kenya. He promised to release soon, his development blue print. To non-starters, Pundo is a long term close ally of the incumbent Mp, Ken Nyagudi, and he played a pivotal role for Nyagudi during the hotly contested by-election, that saw him(Nyagudi) emerging the victor with a razor margin outcome. The by election was occasioned by the demise of Hon Job Omino, who was the area Mp and also the deputy speaker of the National House, parliament. Asked whether his move will go down well with the current Mp: "It is no gainsaying that am the one who assisted him a great deal to become the Mp". He went on "it is my democratic right to engage in politics. I need not consult any one to do so" he posed. Kisumu Town West is a cosmopolitan constituency. And, is not only largely viewed as headquarter for luo Nyanza politics, but also the political bed rock of the luo political kingpin, Hon Raila Amolo Odinga. Ken will battle it out with other aspirants like Olga Olago Aluoch who is also a lawyer, oil dealer Shem Onyango Okeyo, Mombasa based evangelist, Jagero Otiende, alongside other aspirants to unseat the incumbent Mp, who is bedeviled with the allegations of the misuse of the CDF funds.
