Education Falling I thought the truth about education performance in Nyanza rested somewhere between those who believe that the bottom fell out and those who bury their heads in the sand in denial. But now there a defeatist position that "only if Raila gets the presidency then can it get better". We have to shed such unenlightened thinking. We can do better, there is proof everywhere of people who have taken the initiative to build schools and continue to educate our children. To claim that MPs have very little to do with educational perfomance of our children, dismisses the role that leadership can take to organize and guide educational development. The biggest error is to wait for the national government to do things. Now that we know that we are marginalized - what do we do? Sit and wait for something that may not happen - Raila's presidency? Somebody forgot to tell Mboya that he had to wait for presidency to start the airlift. When MP's are elected I do no think that there are illusions that they will "improve" education. What we are asking is that when there are such issues as poor performance they should be at the fore front organizing their communities to identify and address those issues. To that respect, Luo - Nyanza MPs have a collective major F. They would rather attend funerals to compete on who is the most sycophantic Raila follower, than meetings on how to improve education, leave alone organize school harambee. Lest you forget - these are the same losers who skipped the 100 year celebration of the most eminent Kenyan high school outside Alliance, namely Maseno. Ati Kibaki was there - how shallow can they get? And please we have heard enough about how the other communities measure up or do not - that is not our issue. Sometimes I wonder, what if Raila and his travelling circus of Luo MPs, spent as much time agitating , organizing and fundraising in Luo Nyanza and in the diaspora, around the education issue, especially of our daughters, half as much as they "payuka" chasing the big seat - where would our children be?
