Is Something Cooking in Standard Group?

The Standard Group comprising East African Standard and KTN has been in the forefront, both feeling Government heat and also enjoying wide readership. Starting last year with the raid, however, all has not been well. It is not long since Swale was incarcerated, and finally resigned. Now, it seems as if all the best newscasters have resigned to move to Citizen TV (Royal Media).

The move by Louis and Catherine is suspect, although it is there freedom to seek self actualization. How long will the perks last? Is Swale also moving to Royal Media? One should read more in this, as this is an electioneering year and Government is bent to cripple this media, and in one way or the other, cripple the medium through which opposition reaches the people.

It is common knowledge that Royal Media which owns a chain of FM stations and Citizen TV is not a good payer. How then will it manage to pay the people it has poached from KTN? They will definitely be damped after elections. While nation media is wallowing in sex scandal, the Government is busy buying out good reporters from well established media to cripple opposition during this period.

Another way that this is happening is the frequent purchase of standard newspapers in bulk by some unknown people to limit circulation. Even though Standard management revels on sales, a case where agents buy in large numbers to destroy and limit reach requires thinking. Standard management, investigate this. For those who moved to Royal Media from KTN, we live in the short run, in the long run we are all dead, enjoy the perk.

For opposition, do not bury your heads in the sand, your darling is being killed systematically by your competitor. Find new high grounds.
