Re:Dominion Farms Ltd. From: Chris Owala Dear Odhiambo (Tobby) Am based in Kisumu and I do come from Alego. And this issues of Dominion are dear to my heart and also you cant cost me and am priceless. For your information I believe in empowering our communities to make informed decisions in everything they do. For your information, foreign direct investment is not the panacea to our problem in Africa, but if somebody is to invest in our country they must come through a local firm to take care of the local interest and this must be respected at all times. For your information, it is sad selling or allowing a muzungu to take control of our natural resources 40 years after independence. When wazungu came into African, they used collaborates like you to take white settlements which happened to be the most fertile land which they later on privatized. And we have to study history to help make informed decisions. I might be young but I do belief that am very much keen and informed on what is to help our people. When muzungu privatized public resources like roads, hospitals and lakes(Nyamboye, Kanyaboli, the only ox-bow lake in the region) in the name of development then am not convinced that this is development. When most children cannot go to school due high level of malaria and other respiratory problems coupled with high death rate due to HIV/AIDS, tell me if this community will ever achieve MDGs. If you go to work and earn money, and 90% of your income goes to health care, what is the future of this community. How does roads help if you are in a mini-prison, you are being told at what time to use the road. Bwana Tobby what is going to happens to the old men and women that cannot be employed by Dominion yet their land is being hijacked from them? I do believe that we need to value community and put them ahead of our selfish interest. Do you know that Sasini, Kakuzi and the other companies you are talking about are listed in the stock exchange market. Read more about listed companies and what is the difference with this particular one. For your information am not against Dominion but am mad with process. Tobby, do you know who is who in Dominion (who are the directors? Could you be one of them? I would like to know). I do hope that you are going into the city council with change of mind, you have theory of change within yourself. Mr.Odhiambo, if you claim to be the chairman of Yimbo Development Network, then you should know that there are two cases in Bondo court instituted by Dominion against Justus Debe and Meshack Were. And for your information, the charge sheet was framed on them and the cases are one year old. And also, it took my interventions and some of my friends Mike Juma, Patrick Ochieng, through our advocate friend of ours to stop the arrest of 48 other members of the community. Are you in the know? You have chosen to represent the interest of the muzungu. Its absurd. If am in your position I could have let it go. This is high level of double standards Tobby. I am very sure you cannot look at the affected people right into their eyes. Are you aware that there is no road network in Aduwa and Abidha? Otherwise you have a right of reply through the same media or any other of your choice. This battle is on and it will take longer, hence don’t burn out sooner. You need to keep some energy. It’s a marathon. Chris Owalla Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
