Daggers drawn in Kadibo as Omanga is anointed by the Elders for the Nyando Constituency race.

As 2007 General Elections inches closer, Nyando constituency continues to attract a galaxy of aspirants to unseat the incumbent MP Eng. Erick Opon Nyamunga.

Last weekend a group of over 20 Elders drawn from Kabonyo clan anointed a Nairobi based consultant Dr. Paul Omanga to take head on the area MP Eng. Erick Nyamunga, accusing the legislator of giving the clan a row deal as they cited the dilapidated state of roads as an example.

Kabonyo clan which has never led in parliamentary representation since independence as a result of what keen political pundits attribute to greed and lack of shrewd political tactics, have vowed to back the consultant, who is credited for being behind the taming of the menacing flood calamity in Nyando and the prevailing distribution of seeds worth over 10 million for hapless peasants in the area.

The consultant will however brace the resilience of industrialist and maverick USA based business magnet Fred Otieno Waga, who is a close Raila Odinga political ally cum foreign financial mobilizer towards the ODM Presidential nomination.

The youthful Waga, who hails from Kobura sub-clan together with another hopeful Eng. Oyuke, will rely on his sterling development truck record to bag the seat.

Another contender is Fred Outa who also hails form Kabonyo clan and has vowed to defy the anointment of Dr. Omanga by elders on the grounds that the group is partisan and compromised to mandate the consultant to carry the flagship. It will be interesting to see how the rice investor will cope with the myriad of allegations currently dogging him that he has been over taxing the peasant rice farmers with glee.

Whoever will address the dilapidated Korowe Nyangande road and Rabuor Nyangande/Nduru beach stands a high chance of getting the majority of the votes in Kadibo division. The said routes links Lake Victoria (fishermen and rice farmers) with the rest of the country.

It will however be an uphill task to unseat the incumbent Nyamunga, who is expected to comfortably trounce Canada based attorney Miguna Miguna for Wawidhi votes and hoping to bag additional share of the spoils of the divided Kadibo(Kabonyo, Kobura and Kolua) votes with the overpopulated field of aspirants.
