CONTRIBUTION TO ....LET'S TALK!!

I wish to indicate my strong support for the ideas that my brother Daniel Odula M'c Ogot has expressed with regard to voter registration in kasipul kabondo.

It is just the right thing to do for all eligible voters to register however the hindrance has been lack of identification cards.
As you well know,that one cannot register as a voter without identity card.

I have previously made effort to ensure our people in kasipul kabondo get identity cards ,taking the registrars to the locational headquaters at my cost and it was very succesful. However in the past year, there has been consistent cry by the registrars that they dont have one document or the other. The reason being that the person accorded the tender to print the finger print forms has delayed delivery of the same. Other occasions it would be the film for photographs. My effort to try and get the same from Kisumu office was met with the same story and it happended through out August 2005 to November of 2006.

My quick check in Central province indicates that during the same period, there was mass registration of voters.

You can now imagine the disparity caused by this deliberate move to hinder our people from acquiring identification cards thus the low voter registration.

I have also confered with most of our luo members of parliament on the same but even their efforts to raise the same in parliament or talk about it in rallies have been met with promises of quick action to correct the anormally but nothing tangible.

Now that they have agreed to give the identity cards and announced registration of voters at the same time, only a miracle or mass action by our national leaders to postpone the voter registration exercise would help.
