Voter Registration

The Electoral Commission of Kenya, once again is rolling out a month long voter registration exercise beginning today.

This is an opportunity for those people who did not manage to register as voters, or those who were below the voting age, or still, those who did not have their ID cards by then, to register as voters and help other Kenyans elect a credible government.

We have all been fed on the lies, and now that we know, it is our time to put a stop to this circus. It is now our time to register as voters, and when the whistle is blown, we all troop to the voting booths, and put someone in charge of our affairs as Kenyans.

There are several factors that will inform our choices for the next government. We must not see trees for a forest, because, as they say, many cooks always spoil the broth. We will hence have to be diligent in choosing the ODM-K presidential candidate to square it out with the current regime. Our behavior towards our perceived political opponents will be the litmus test.

At ODM-K, we must inculcate a culture of friendly competition. For this is what will make or break our unity as a political movement. We must all be tolerant with our in-house competitors.

ODM-K must show Kenyans what healthy political competition is all about. Not hooliganism, not thuggery, not violence, not exclusionism; but an all inclusive process. This is the time for ODM-K to win more the hearts of many Kenyans by embracing dialogue and being more tolerant with perceived opponents.

If we all take this united approach as Kenyans, we shall all match to the promised land in unity, and all state resources will be shared evenly across Kenya; jobs will be shared evenly across Kenya; business opportunities will be shared evenly across Kenya; and we shall all say goodbye to tribalism.

My prayers, which will be answered in December, has always been that God gives us enough voters to consign this current regime to political history.
