Where is the logics " ODM may pick Uhuru or Kalonzo" Whether BERNARD NAMUNANE of nation or somebody he has talked to believes that ODM Kenya will opt for either Kalonzo Musyoka or Uhuru Kenyatta to face President Kibaki because "these two candidates can attract the much needed 1.5 million votes from Central and Eastern provinces and add it to the 3.5 million votes that Mr Odinga, Mr Ruto and Mr Mudavadi will pick from their three major regions" is as illogical as those who thought it could come true. Just the thought that those who bring more to the table should not even be considered for the post is mischief and sounds like a misplaced analysis. I do not own a hummer to a case and cannot pronounce a judgment but it looks like a lot of permutations were intentionally or unintentionally ignored in this argument. In suggesting that the 1.5 million from central would vote for orange totally, the writer ignored the Kibaki factor. As a matter of fact if Kibaki is still in the race and he is the incumbent, no one will beat him in kikuyu land. why would the kikuyus remove a kikuyu who has a better chance to replace him with another kikuyu? What do the kikuyus stand to gain under uhuru that they are not gaining now? The writer must realize that within the less than 5 years Kibaki has been a president, he has done a lot more for the kikuyus than Moi did for the Kalenjins in 24 years. Every cooperation is headed by a kikuyu. There is a kikuyu name behind a loot and there is no prosecution at all for those that are caught in the act. At least Moi pretended to prosecute. Infact give Kibaki another five years and he will conquer the world for the Kikuyus. If I was a kikuyu I would not exchange Kibaki for Uhuru because Uhuru is immature and not a seasoned politician at all. Kenyata will not have the courage to promote Gema like Kibaki. Why the writer thought that if Uhuru is nominated, then the whole kikuyu vote will be his for grabs dumbfounded me and I still would like him to substantiate. Kalonzo has the votes of Kambas if he contest for presidency but not that of the kikuyus. Those votes will still go to Amillo because Kalonzo cannot remotely do to the kikuyus what Kibaki is doing for them already. Furthermore, Kalonzo area is so much behind to an extent that people know exactly what he is coming to state house to do. It is Kamba time not Kikuyu time when Kalonzo comes in. So why exactly should the writer believe that the 1.5 million votes will flow like a river from Kibaki to Kalonzo? It is malice or an attempt to short change Odinga, Ruto and Mudavadi I therefore believe that those who can bring more into the coalition must be considered first before those who can bring less. If the 1.5 million votes is divided between Kibaki, Ngilu, uhuru and Musyoka, each one of them will have only 0.37 votes while if the 3.5 million is divided between Ruto, Odinga and Mudavadi each will have 0.87 votes almost double what the two touted candidates can carry. Do your math. Besides, Odinga, Ruto and Mudavadi are sure of carrying almost a 100% of votes from their areas. So when the writer is talking about one who can beat Kibaki hands down, who exactly should be is an appropriate candidate? I would say if there is unity then the right candidate would be Ruto, Mudavadi or Odinga and not Musyoka or Uhuru. These two candidates are not the best bet for ODMK when it comes to beating Kibaki hands down because they do not have the votes if Raila, Mudavadi and Ruto don’t support them. As a matter of fact if Raila and Mudavadi leaves these neither Uhuru or Musyoka can win against Kibaki even if Ruto is still in the fold. Their best bet would be to run back to Kibaki for crumbs. It is high time that Raila, Mudavadi and Ruto read the ploy and come together if Musyoka is continuing to play duck. Nyachae is retiring, this opens the field even more for these three candidates. I bet you Musyoka or Uhuru do not know how they can coat the Kisii vote. They are not campaigners like the three mentioned above. They are just opportunists waiting to ride on other peoples backs and are not willing to give support when they should. While Uhuru has not been very antagonistic for ODMK, Kalonzo has and it is high time ODMK have elections so that those who want to leave can and so that the suggestions by this writer can be tested. Nation re-examine your write ups before you publish them. The article is either not well thought or someone chose to mislead or blatantly lie to us.
