KENYA TIMES Aril 4,2007 sent by Ruttoh Pollyzzarrioh Youths chart political destiny By DENNIS LUMITI HUNDREDS of youths from Western province yesterday converged in Kakamega town to chart the political destiny of the area. They accused some local leaders of causing divisions among the Luyia community. The youths allied mostly to KADDU led by former Cabinet minister, Cyrus Jirongo, particularly took issue with Housing minister Soita Shitanda and an assistant minister Bonny Khalwale over the formation of a new party, which they said would cause more divisions within the Luyia community. In a statement released after their meeting, the youths led by businessman Cleophas Toto Shimanyula, said they would not support Shitanda, Khalwale and Shinyalu MP Daniel Khamasi in the bid to recapture their seats in this year’s polls, if they did not abandon the parties. The youths stated that many parties were a bane to the Luyia unity and that instead of forming a party after quitting Ford-Kenya, Shitanda, Khalwale and Khamasi should have joined KADDU that already had a following in the area. They also warned ODM-K that it would lose the Luyia community support, if it did not nominate Musalia Mudavadi as its presidential candidate. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
