Re: [Jambo] Are Kenyans Secure: Of Kibera and the Arturs Brothers Elijah, I have restrained myself from commenting on many subjects that you have engaged in, but I feel compelled to say something here. The elected president of Kenya has the responsibility to ensure that the Wananchi live peacefully and are protected from all internal and external rape of justice. It is the President that sets the pace for not only development projects but also security as a General Manager. The MPs are supervisors to ensure that the funds so earmarked are put to proper use. Yes, MPs are lawmakers and policy architects and designers of either a progressive or regressive society. I wonder if some money was earmarked by the government to improve the Nairobi slums and Raila misappropriated! If so then I stand corrected. If not then, I believe that it behooves the government to understand how important the aspect of a clean, safe and attractive capitol city is. Tourism is a huge revenue source for Kenya and any time the industry is affected negatively, it affects our pockets. I am lost of words to hear you underrate the impact of foreign thugs taking center stage in our government machinery and to hear you make it of non-consequence mercenaries hired to bring chaos, confusion and extinction of life. What we need is leadership that will encompass better life from the cradle to the grave of all Kenyan citizens regardless of tribe or regional affiliation. Regardless of gender, physical or mental capabilities all Kenyans are equal. If you climb up this tree you will then see the need for better: prenatal facilities, hospitals, mental /psychiatric institutions, schools, roads and railways, training facilities, farming techniques, infrastructure across the board, senior citizens/aging facilities. Is it not a shame that untold number of women still dies in childbirth in Kenya and Africa as a whole. Should that not be a thing of the past? Is Raila to blame for all these ills. Lest I become guilty of supporting a man and an idea, I want to mention that failure in our system has happened because of greed and egocentrism. Outside of that we could have been miles ahead today in many areas that are now dwarfed and retarded! I argue that you may want to consider your position on this matter. It surely sounds misleading to blame a man for what is the responsibility of the government. What am I missing here? Keen Nyamwange (Illinois, USA) Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
