From: Nation Media (sent by Jadolo Okoth Otura) Stop majimbo drive, minister tells ODM-K Published: 4/18/2007 By: NATION Correspondent Health assistant minister Wilfred Machage yesterday opposed the federal system of government saying it would fragment the country into ethnic blocs. He called on ODM Kenya leaders to stop their crusade for majimbo (federalism) saying the unity Kenyans had exhibited since independence would be eroded by such a government. Dr Machage claimed ODM-K was rooting for majimbo after sensing a looming defeat in the December General Election. "We as Narc Kenya leaders will only accept the system over our dead bodies. We can't allow certain people to use their numerical strength to sit on us," the Kuria MP said at a meeting in Kuvisingisi primary school. He vowed to stick with Narc-K despite the ODM-K euphoria in the area. Dr Machage appealed to members of the Kuria community to re-elect President Kibaki to enable him complete the projects he had initiated. He told his rivals in Narc-K to move to other parties " because I am tipped to take the ticket during the nominations". The assistant minister also dismissed claims that he had grabbed a community borehole in Kehancha and told his critics to stop their smear campaign and instead tell the people what they had done for them.
