Re: [Jambo] DOMINION FARMS SUPPORTERS DEVOID OF HUMANITY Brother Orina. The problem with communication is that you are only trying to see things from your point of view and not realizing that there are many points of views out there which you must put into consideration. Also, terminologies like bottoms up and tops down may mean different things to different people. Here is my problem with you folks: 1) You say "beautiful things" like Dominion approach is wrong AND THAT WHAT WE NEED is the community based organizing and solutions, meaning that the People of Yala must be the ones to own and direct their development, not by foreigners. However you do not tell us how they are to come up with these solutions or where they are going to get the money to implement these solutions. This is what I call empty talk that does not mean anything. You talk about development in abstract but no tangible plans. You do not tell us where the money is going to come from or if you do, you do not tell us how we will get it and when. 2) Dominion is real. It is actually spending money in our community right now and doing things that eyes can see, ears can hear and mouths can taste. Yours is a bunch of "we should" , "we ought to" and "we will" but nothing that one can use to buy food or eat. That is the difference. 3) People who need jobs and food do not care whether it is Msungu or not. Most of us living abroad earn money from msungu and send the money to Kenya. I never heard anybody complain about that money. If your kids are hungry and need food, they want to see you get them food and not BS them with imperialist, anti-msungi rhetoric which does not translate into real food or jobs in real time. 4) You say that you want development to begin at the bottom but you are not saying how. A major ingredient into development is capital. You are not telling us where that money for bottoms up development is going to come from, and when it is going to get here. Dominion is doing things right now. 5) I will make a deal with you Mr. Orina. When you have a plan and money to boot, then I will listen to your development plan. However, if you are just going to talk, talk, talk and plan with no control over the monies you are planning with then I will continue to listen to Dominion until you are ready to create jobs and feed our people. Our people need food and jobs today and not 30 years later. 6) Last but not least. I do not believe that the choice is between Nationalism and Ethnicity because majimbo is not synonymous to ethnicity and yours is pure propaganda. Many western democracies are Majimbo and just because I talk about development in Luo Nyanza does not mean I do not want development in Kikuyuland or Kissiland. It only means that Luos should be able to control development activities in their regions and so do Kikuyus and Luyias. This is what I mean by bottom up. It is obviouse you have your own meaning for bottom up. 7) Luos who are working with Dominion are not trying to undercut development in Kissiland, nor are they diverting resources earmarked for Central province. I however believe that other people should be left to decide their own destiny instead of patronizing us as if we do not understand the choices at our disposals. Life is about making choices. We understand the issues of environment and imperialism and neocolonialism. We also understand the issues of Poverty, joblessness, hunger and diseases. We chose to eliminate the later. Please respect our choice as a people. Obungu Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
