Re: [Mwananchi] The First Generation of African Nationalist Leaders; OTO asks, African revolution, is it possible? "We shall achieve in a decade what it took others a century and we shall not rest content until we demolish these miserable colonial structures and erect in their place a veritable paradise," he declared exuberantly (Nkrumah, 1957, 34). Prof, this is some good analysis. Looked at from what I had written about the lot that is African leadership, are we ripe for an African Revolution? Can the current leaders champion growth in Africa? Or are they just mere pretenders to good governance, and once in power, the old drabbing games continue. I feel disillusioned when the person I voted for in Kenya to bring that needed change, went back to the same self old games; tribalism, corruption, wastefulness, ineptness, and becomes abusive at the same time. Can Africans stand for change in voting into office, people who will ensure equitable distribution of the national cake, people who will kill tribalism, people who will not tolerate corruption; people who will not waste the countries resources for some short term political gains;in short, people who will not do what Kibaki has done since he took office. Kenyans in particular must lead the rest of Africa in December 2007, by voting out the current regime, because like all those other African countries which have failed the governance test, Kibaki was there with them then, and solidly part of their failed thinking. And thereafter put into office, an enigma, whose style of governance will make all Africans proud, that truly, Africans can rise to the occasion and provide good leadership devoid of tribalism, corruption, and ineptness.
