In solidarity with The Standard Group Limited On behalf of the chairman, Mr Lameck Siage, Vice chairman, Mr Irshad Sumra, Treasurer, Cllr Patrick Mulili, Organising Secretary Cllr Okeyo Mbata, and the entire LDP Embakasi Branch, we want to stand in solidarity with the Standard Group family at this their hour of need. We note with concern that instead of the Goverment investigating the culprits, it has turned on the messenger. We note that the Standard Group, has been a source of inspiration to lovers of news, and its coverage of news, both in the print and on KTN remains unmatched. We urge all the editors at The Standard to remain firm and focussed on their mission, to inform and educate Kenyans. The truth must always be told. We would like to also take this opoortunity to urge the governent to do its work; protect the life of Kenyan. It is worth noting that Kenyans are being killed in Mt Elgon, in Meru, in Banana, and across the country, and yet, instead of following on this with the force that is desired, that force is turned on surmoning and interogating innocent Directors of a company, whose only mistake, happens to be undertaking her oficial mandate; bringing to us news. We also want to thank the media fraternity in Kenya and the entire world for standing up in support of The Standard Group. An affront on one media house, is an affront on the entire media industry. Today it is The Standard, tomorrow it is you. We also condemn the selective award of advertising jobs to the media industry. We appeal to the entire industry to refuse to be played against each other. Such draconian methods were applied when Hitler was still alive. They have no room in our nascent democracy. We urge all Kenyans of good will to take note of the misplaced priorities of this government. Odhiambo T Oketch Secretary; LDP Embakasi Constituency, Nairobi.
