It is abundantly clear that majimbo system leading to self-determination is a preferred option in ensuring that people are governed or administered by Leaders/Managers who understand local and regional problems/needs, that policy implementors understand, are part of those needs and are loyal to the needs of the local populance.

Central government brought about a situation where Nyanza PC for example, a very important development agent in implemeting central government policy comes from central province (Kagudhi undermined development in Nyanza) without any interest at all in the wellbeing and development of Nyanza largely to potilical rivalry between the Kikuyus and Luos. You can imagine the damage, that explains partly why Nyanza is the second poorest region in Kenya today yet the leading tax remitter to the exchequer. Paradosically, Central Province of out 8 is the least contributor the the exchequer, yet the richest area.

Obviously, all sysyem have both negatives and positives, but on balance federal system has got more advantages than disadvantages, that is why it is my preference. It is up to us to persuade the majority to buy into our idea so that we move forward in harmony and together.
