RE: Nothing works in Kenya, despite all the denials

Your detailed diagnosis of the the situation in Kenya from independent to date is comprehensive,sound and refreshing. For one, our MPs have contributed to a large extent some of the inequities in our society (salaries etc). MPs as the people's representatives ought to put the people's well-being first by being agents of developmental change,provide leadership of purpose on behalf of the people. Few Kenyan MPs can truly be described as providing the above. For example, 92% of MPs from Luo Nyanza are people who are not fit for leadership positions, they have no serious developmental agenda, they follow Raila like mad dogs, they rarely engage in developmental activities(schools, dispensaries/health centers, churches) in their constituencies but make lots of political noises in Nairobi and probably at funerals while their counterparts in Rift Valley and Central Province always do politics at fund drive events for schools, churches, health centers or to raise school fees for poor students or those going for further studies. Our MPs must strike a balance of talking politics throughout and engaging in developmental activities.

Our role now would be to engage with our leaders present and future and impress upon them the need to strike the right balance.We need to ask them some difficult questions, we do not need to be mesmerized into laughing or clamping because Raila/Nyongo for example is laughing. This is one of the very effective way they will learn and realize that we are serious and thinking critically because we are capable of demonstrating seriousness in our debate with them.

This very debate via the Internet is fundamental because it is educative and informative. We must not relent, but keep up the pressure.
