Thank You Loise, thank you. Thank you. I have heard from a wise one. You told us that we cherish reckess talk from the safety of our glass houses in the Diaspora; that employment never generated wealth, businesses did; that we wined away our productive lives. All that is true. You may add that we invested in more wives; that we sold our land to aliens and used the money to marry another wife. I have always held the view that Majimbo will never solve our problems in Luoland. Hard work and self-abnegation will. A case in point: on a bus ride from Migori to Kisii; one notices a quantum jump upon crossing into Kisii at Numba Tabaka: This economic-activity jump alerts one to the fact that she or he has left Luoland and entered Kisii. The lesson one gets in this bus tour is that the Luo don't work hard, the Gusii do. Moreover, the sooner Majimbo sets in, than Siaya will be fighting Bondo; Kisumu fighting Karachuonyo; and Ndhiwa fighting Suba and Migori for the same resources. The Ramogi spirit will be out of the window. We fought among ourselves before. In modern times, our Cooperative Societies (Sisal, Cotton) have not done well due to interclan rivalries and mismanagement (joka nyan'gane ok loya). The Kenya most of us sneer at in virtual space is the the only moderating force among its diverse national states (read tribes). Go Majimbo (read Tribal Zones), than the Gusii and the Kuria shall ask for thier independence from Luo Nyanza; and the sooner will the Luo pay multiple tarriffs to transport themselves, Sugar and Mbuta (and other goods) between Kisumu and Mombasa. If you don't know, that is known as interstate commerce in the US. I don't think landlocked Nyanza will like the Mjimbo arrangement. Thank you, Loise. Joseph R.
