Raila mustn't look back on his bid

KITUTU Chache MP and Ford People leader Simeon Nyachae is advising his Omogusii community to support President Mwai Kibaki’s re-election in the forthcoming General Election because Lang'ata MP and ODM-K presidential aspirant Raila Odinga and the Luo community refused to vote for him in the last election. This is narrow-minded reasoning and Nyachae cannot afford to stoop so low. Did Kibaki and his Kikuyu community vote for Nyachae in the last elections? Nyachae should come out and tell us how many people who are not from his Kisii backyard voted for him.

As for the wrangling going on in ODM-K, some of the people contending for presidential nominations are running scared even before the nominations take place. Kalonzo Musyoka and William Ruto see no wrong when they declare they are best suited for the presidency, but when Raila does the so, a big wrong is committed.

Raila played a pivotal role in ensuring Kenya's second liberation when some of the current leaders were deep rooted in the KANU government of Moi. He has also demonstrated his willingness to shun tribalism and corruption consistent with previous regimes.

The Luo community has played second fiddle for a long time but not any more. This time round the community will send one of its own to State House.
