RE: Nothing works in Kenya, despite all the denials

Let me share some of your expressed hopes. I too see that Kenya has a promising future, but the question is why so?

I see the results of the struggle we have had from 1990 begining to bear some fruit.
- Improved political space - even those that never wanted it, those that believed that a one-party state was the way to go, even those that thought the proponents of a multi-party system belong in jail (live coverage from bunge is my source) can now be presidents of want to be presidents of this our beloved country.

- There is a functioning parlaiment where some issues can be debated and resolutions found. If it were not so, KenGen would have been stollen from Kenyans, and over 60bn would be gone into private pokets - chances are still that we will loose the money just because someone hatched a plan to steal from us and the government insists that it does not know who the recipient of the handsome pay is, and yet whoever it is, they can return the money, the government recieves it without knowing who is returning the money, and they can even return the IPNs to the finance minister for a press conference then take them back so that when asked to table them in parliament, they are no longer there.

- There is hope in Kenyans making a choice between those that are truly pro-reforms and will help us realize a dream of a new constitution and those that want to call themselves conservatives - a rather nice name for thieves who want to keep the status quo to enable them to loot the country.

In deed, I see hope in Kenya today! Don't you?

Let us not be cheated by the fact that there is now free primary education, but the cost of living is several times higher. Unga, sugar, transport, medical care, house rent, etc are the pointers to the cost of living.
