Re: Hon. Raila Odinga's Vision for Kenya and Kenyans

From: Peter

Fellow Kenyans,

I am not sure why this Raila speech/visionet was forwarded to us, but I guess Bob wants our votes/opinions. There is a bunch of Kenyans in diaspora who have taken it upon themselves to misrepresent the rest of us as supporters of certain political elements who trot the globe politicking instead of enganging in development projects in Kibera and other parts of their constituencies.

This speech or whatever the document contains is all bologni! empty rhetoric from an individual who is out to grab power under the guise of liberation. If this speech or "vision" is representative of ODM then why do other ODM candidates have their own very different "visions." Kenyans must be wary of personal agendas that drive some of these fellows claiming to be "liberators."

Here in the US we see bipartisan initiatives when it comes to various issues that are important or beneficial to the nation. Some of these Kenyan politicians oppose every government initiative even tose that are beneficial to the citizens - likethe recent promise to waive tuition for secondary school students ~ just like the US government has done for high school students in public schools. I hear that the government has done a lot to improve the infrastructure (which had been run down for years), electrification even in slums like Mathare, free education in primary schools and a lot more. Those I talk to say that if the current government gets another five years Kenya will be transformed into the prosperous nation that it should all along have been. These ODM fellows are sinmply out to fulfill their dreams of getting into "power" whatever power means. We want servants who will serve the nation - not abwogas to destroy the little that has been rehabilitated in the last four years. The visions they are floating will not stand the test of time and political realities in Kenya. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. The current government, though not perfect, has not withheld development from any corner of Kenya - "siasa baya maisha baya" no longer applies. Those who cry foul about bias in appointments are actually those ho have their own people in mind that they would put in those positions given the "power."

What we should be doing is circulating e-mails about development projects that we can support, computer give-aways for schools, supporting hospitals, and other projects. The current government has not given me a cent and I don't expect ODM or anyone else to do me a favor. All we want is a peaceful atmosphere in Kenya where no community is repressed in the name of "helping the donkey to catch up with the horse," whatever that means. This government is planning to phase out slums and build better housing for slum-dwellers. What has Raila in his political life done for Kibera???!!!!!!!

Let nobody fool anybody that Kenyans in diaspora are pro-ODM! I read that some fellows even bought a hummer for Raila. How many of them drive hummers? You have your own fishing net - don't wait for ODM or NARC to come do you or your community favors. Kibaki has not done even the people of Othaya favors. There is room for improvement but in all fairness the current government has outdone the past governments.

Thanks for forwarding the e-mail so we can air our opinions. Viva NARC-Kenya!
