Re: Nelson Mandela or Idi Amin? From: Peter Mucha, Sounds like good wishful thinking to me! What can your “Agwambo” (Enigma what?) show as examples of development initiatives to prove that he can lead the nation from a “third world” to a "second world" country? Secondly, there is nothing like “Second World” countries! Don't join Agwambo and his followers in displaying your ignorance on this blog. “Third World” and such terminologies are derogatory in this day and age, and they do not mean anything - strictly speaking. They are used as insults to nations perceived as “inferior” in certain respects by those who have a superiority complex and it is unfortunate that people like Agwambo and you are at home with being described in such derogatory terms. Let me teach you what those terminologies meant during the Cold War. There was the Soviet Union of one side and the "West," America and European nations on the other side of the Cold War struggle, the other "non-aligned" nations like Kenya etc were referred to as the "Third World" countries since they were not directly involved in the Cold War between the other two “Worlds” if you like. So what is your Agwambo saying? That he will move Kenya from being a peaceful non-aligned country to a war-ton communist country opposed to the West, right? If in his ignorance he means to say that he will develop Kenya, then let him say "this is what I have done (especially for Kibera) as an MP or Minister, if you elect me President I will strive to do this and that together with you so that Kenya can catch up with the Asian Tigers!" That would be a reasonable and fairly convincing argument, at least to someone who doesn't understand Tinga. Goals must be reasonable, specific and achievable within a specified timeline. What Raila is saying is just a bluff to win the votes of people with simple minds and others with hegemony. You must be so gullible to just believe that everything Raila says will happen. Raila is holding everything constant when making his statements or assumptions – I would call them. Even if he were to become president he would have enough things to contend with, beginning with opposition from the ODM fallout to every other obstacle along the Kenyan labile political landscape. Raila’s prediction would only come true in a vacuum and you better be more realistic. You said that “What I know is that these people most of them will die, collapse, or have heart attack thinking what will happen to them “. If Raila is a Mandela and not a “Dada” then why would anybody respond that way if they came to power? Only Dada would be feared that much! If you or Tinga are not tribalists, then you should rejoice when someone from another tribe gets successful. What you and Tinga really are is that you are tribalists with a “when will our chance to eat come?” mentality. That’s enough. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
