Diane Ambeyi-Sims – 162 votes (Team A) Kenyans from all walks of life turned up for the first the election ever to be held democratically in New Jersey. It was democratic and voters spoke. Many Kenyans who reside in suburban areas turned up to cast their votes. The street where these elections were being held was congested with double parked cars such that traffic flow was slow for all other motorists. Elder Shem Onditi was shouting out there “vote “B” Baba and I recall Mr. Arnold Matonda telling Kenyans in one of the functions “vote “A” because it is the first in the alphabet”. The wind of democracy spoke wide and clear. Public Eye is happy to have started this process on its way. All we had wanted from the beginning was for democratic elections to be held and those in office to be truly representative of the people. We are glad that happened yesterday and the people spoke. The next elections will be held two years from now which is 05/20/09. During the elections, each team was represented by an agent who worked with the 1st secretary of the Kenyan embassy in Washington DC, Mr. Seif Mohamed, who was the overall and final decision maker. Those other agents were Mr. Francis Ongata (I), Mr. Wilfred Nyakundi Motaro (A), Mr. Asael Abuki Omwamba (A), Mr. Aminga Ongeri (B) and Bevon Sarara (B). Ms. Florence Mwololo was an observer representing KACA commission. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
