News :KACA Commission’s Excellent Performance

By Public Eye Team

05/21/07

The commission was set up to govern, and set up rules and procedures to guide the electoral process. The head commissioner was Ms. Leah Ayoo while Danvas Omare was secretary of the commission. Other members of the commission were Mr. William Nyamongo, Mr. Siocha Onchari and Mr. Richard Maburi.

Under this commission, history was written anew with the voting pattern which enabled the elections to run smoothly. Transparency was created more especially when Kenyans realized that there was a representative from the Kenyan embassy in Washington DC, 1ST secretary Mr. Seif Mohamed, who was the overall observer by making final decisions on valid votes, voided votes and the counting pattern.

It was clear and well demonstrated that the Kenyan government was on an outreach program to make sure that all Kenyans are accessible and connected to the consulate office. Both the UN and Kenyan consulate in Washington DC have lately been reaching out to Kenyans especially in New Jersey. Last weekend we had UN ambassador Mr. Zachary Maburi Mwita in Kenyan functions as well as on the previous weekend.

KACA commission gave flexible rules which were: a proof of address like bank statement, letter showing address, bills or New Jersey ID. There were 16 candidates overall.

On closing remarks the secretary to the commission Mr. Danvas Omare said “ The commission will be in existence for next 7 days and whoever has a complaint should do it before seven days are over with $100.00 filing fee and if the complainant loses the fine will not exceed $250.00”.

On his closing remarks the 1st secretary of Kenyan embassy in Washington DC said “ Kenyans have shown a good example for conducting a peaceful election. Those who were defeated join hands and work together with the winning team. Not all will win. But somehow somebody will win and one lose. I'm grateful to people who came here and participated to vote, I saw very old people who came here and participated in elections. This shows that Kenyans in New Jersey have reached a high level of maturity than before”. He asked Kenyans to forget the campaign insults and start the healing process.

The Chairlady of KACA said “I have seen people today who I have never seen in many functions. So this means we are striving towards good direction of unifying Kenyans in New Jersey. I ask you to work together and forgive each other because the elections are over”.
