Re: Nothing works in Kenya, despite all the denials Odhiambo Okech, You obviously have forgotten a few things and you need to take yourself around the country and get to know what is happening on the ground. IMe thinks you have closed your eyes and mind and decided what to see and what not to. For all its failings, the Kibaki government has achieved quite a bit and these cannot be ignored. If you were given a choice, would you live under Moi's government or Kibaki's? I would like to state that the 5% or 6% or even 8% is NOT good enough. We are capable of doing upwards of 12% economic growth by now. I live and work in Nairobi and I travel quite a bit in and out of the country. I can assure you that things are changing for the better though not at the pace we would have wanted. Kenya is NOT Outer Mongolia, wherever that is. By the way, have you been to Outer Mongolia? Let's give credit to the government where it is due. Let's not criticize for criticism's case. I am not a government apologist, but I have lived under Kenyatta's, Moi's and Kibaki's regimes and I can tell which regime is the worst among the three and which regime has at least given its people hope for a better tomorrow. During the last regime, I seriously considered leaving the country on account that I could not see where Kenya was heading to. I could only see Kenya heading towards self-destruction. I don't see it that way any more. Kenya has a promising future. Mark my words. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
