RIFT VALLEY MPS WRONG ON RAILA It is time once again in Kenya when night political meetings become more frequent with unexpected surprises or even worse shocking proposals. Whenever general elections are around the corner all politicians want to cut deals in their favour for the big price as being witnessed in ODM-K. All the ODM-K presidential nominees have been traversing all corners of the country to win over the electorate come the general elections but of immediate interest, the delegates during the soon to be nominations for the ODM-K presidential candidate. But the proposal by the Rift Valley MPs that Hon. Raila Odinga step aside for either Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka or Musalia Mudavadi was simply ridiculous and pre-emptive for it would have given the impression to the public that he had thrown in the towel as his party thinks he cannot win against the incumbent. This is not true and I therefore think the Rift Valley MPs were simply wrong on Raila by contemplating such a thing. Raila is one of the candidates and leaders of ODM-K and has said publicly on many occasions that he will support whoever wins the nomination. It is inevitably true that ODM-K will only win if they are all united under ODM-K banner and all must work as one team. This will require some honest soul searching although in politics this might be hard to get. Raila has proved to the electorate that he is truly a national leader and history is full of examples of that. So it would only be prudent for these other contenders to support him this time round to prove to the Kenyan electorate that they do not only want power for selfish reasons but to build one nation for the benefit of all the people of Kenya. Raila must stay to the end of the process and this time there will be NO TOSHA. Dickson Aduonga Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
