UHURU MUST BE OVERLOOKED BY ODM-KENYA The general public perception about Uhuru Kenyatta on matters ODM has been that he is never interested in the party’s loss in the coming elections. It is believed that his continued association with the ODM team is lethal to the party, now or in the last critical moments of the future. Definitely he is sure the country is not ready for a president from his tribe, not again, unless the incumbent winds his way back. He knows KANU cannot win elections single handedly. He is nostalgic about the 2002 electoral defeat and will work his ways around to avenge the "gang" that brought him down, part of who are now baying for the ODM-K presidential ticket. But most notable is his family members who are deeply entrenched in the current regime, either as parastal heads or cabinet ministers. Fully aware that he stands no chance of winning the ODM-K presidential ticket and by extension losing his parliamentary seat, it would be better to elongate the tenure of the current regime which will serve his family interest which is of course larger than his personal ambitions. It is noteworthy that those interest are so vast that they can only be taken care of when he is the president or by a president. With that in mind, it is widely expected that Uhuru will work to derail any attempt to strengthen ODM-K and ensure that Narc-Kenya does not win but ODM-K loses the contest long before the balloting day. Being the chairman of KANU he has numerous opportunities to do that, the just concluded NDC being one of them. It is for this reason that the Narc-Kenya team would rather he remains in ODM-K long enough to unleash the lethal jab at the most opportune time. They will even pay the one million shilling’s nomination fee on his behalf just to keep ODM-K singing about that illusionary unity-after-nomination song. Historical examples abound against his commitment to dethroning the current regime. Even J.J Kamotho’s side kick came much early! Politics is about impressions at the time of voting and Uhuru will work to confuse ODM-K at a time when they can least salvage the mess. He is only in the party to gather enough momentum to depart with maximum energy that will leave ODM-K weaker so that Narc-Kenya, maintaining its constant strength, will carry the day. It is for this reason that ODM-K must find a way of solving this Uhuru problem well in advance, once and for all. As I have said before, it does not pay when a party’s desire to look national and democratic forces it to take the path of potential self destruction. Kenyans have invested too much hope in ODM-K that an individual’s quest for survival should not be allowed to hold the people’s future at ransom. The ODM-K leadership and the secretariat must rise to the occasion and follow the regulations to the letter without bending them to suit anybody.
