The dream that never came true Written By Ojuki Sudhe. (sent by Dhiamby) What a waste of opportunity it is? It is always said that Home is always the best.I read what one of the Kenyans in America wrote in the Standard Newspaper about the real life in America. He never lied and he talked the truth. Quite a good number of young Kenyans come to America with the hope to succeed in life but this is not always true. It is kind of sad that even individuals with families dont enjoy each others company because it is just work and work, there is no time to be with your partner or children. There are cases of partners cheating on one another at work simply because they have no time for each other at home. It is becoming common mostly with West Africans( Nigerians) in particular, lying to Kenya women that they are American citizens and can help them secure green cards. They use all kinds of tricks to get Kenya women in their traps. Please, this gentleman from Nigeria is not acitizen he has the same problem as you. There are very many Kenyans who cannot manage going back home because they are ashamed of themsevles. Some of them managed coming to America through Harambee, which everybody who contributed is concerned and trying to tracking them down. When you visit home, the few who thinks that America is just like Nairobi will bravely ask you about so and so and if he is still in college. Managing life in America is not easy. My simple advise to parents sending their children to pursue Education in America is they should really know that Life in America is not Rose of flowers as many people think. Let the people at home know excatly what is going on in these foreign countries. Dont send a wrong message and signals that life in America is easy. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
