Kalonzo decamps LDP to join National Labour Party

As ODM-Kenya wrangles build up ahead of the party's presidential nominations, one of the presidential hopefuls Kalonzo Musyoka has now decamped from LDP an ODM Kenya affiliate party to join the little known National Labour Party of Kenya.

Kalonzo and his group however say it will stay in ODM Kenya under the National Labour party of Kenya. The group made the announcement after holding a crisis meeting in Nairobi.

Kalonzo said time was running out for ODM Kenya to name its presidential candidate adding that its unfortunate that leaders are fighting each other, which is impacting negatively on the party's popularity.

Prof. Julia Ojiambo who is the LPK chair says the move is aimed at ensuring that her party is not treated as an underdog any more in ODM Kenya.

Monday's meeting comes hot on the heels of an anointing ceremony of Kalonzo's bitter rival in the race for the coveted ODM-K ticket Raila Odinga.

The race for ODM-K ticket has narrowed down to Kalonzo and Raila, who are differing on the mode of picking the party's flag-bearer.

While Kalonzo favours the consensus, Raila and his allies prefer the delegate system.
