COUNCIL ON FINANCIAL SCAM

A clique of councillors and residents of Nyando (Ahero Town Council) are up in arms with a bogus contractor and the chairman of the Council Mr. Michael Odote Ojiem over what they termed as “Open Theft” by the duo.

Speaking to the press in Nyando, the enraged councillors have threatened a mass demonstration to compel the two to refund a staggering Kshs.1.4 M. which was awarded to the contractor operating under the flagship JOWI CONSTRUCTION COMPANY LTD early this year to upgrade the dilapidated Kombura - Katho and Onjiko Wawidhi Wards.

The constructor who is said to be Mr. Odote’s relative was awarded the tender dubiously and in controversial circumstances which left reputable firms which could do the job in periphery.

It’s shocking and laughable to note that the said cheque was personally and forcefully fished out from the Clerk and the Treasurer of the council to Kenya Commercial Bank (K.C.B) Kisumu Branch by Odote in the company of the contractor for encashment in his white Peugeot.

The said roads were discussed and approved for refurbishment by Kenya roads board through fuel levy funds.
