Re: WERA- Women Elite for Raila William, I like your reasoning, and the only problem is that history is not with you. I accept that Raila cannot have anything done, but then I remember in 2002, when President Kibaki had an accident and became indisposed, Raila was at hand to have the job done. At that time, Kijana Wamalwa,RIP, also became ill and got hospitalised in Londom, the same Raila, who cannot have things done, famously said, the captain is injured, but the game goes on. And the game went on with Raila as the player/coach, and he won for Kibaki. And this was after Kibaki had failed twice, in his previos attempts to score. I bet as Kenyans, we must accept reality and pat others in the back when they do well. I must salute those people of Central Province who called Raila 'Jamba', when Kibaki went with him to Central after the elections. What I normally question myself is, at what time did Raila cease being 'Jamba' to some of our colleagues? In building Kenya together, we must learn to accept when our leaders fail. We tasked Kibaki with ending tribalism, but instead, he promoted the same. We tasked Kibaki with ending corruption, but instead, anglo leasing was executed by his own people under his watch. We tasked Kibaki with a new constitution, and sadly, 5 years down the line, Kenya does not have a new constitution. These are not Kikuyu problems. These are Kenyan problems, and the person who has failed here is Kibaki, not the great people of Central Province. Even if Raila was to fail in his coming presidency, we will not condemn the Luo, but rather, we will face Raila and ask him to account. So William, do not stretch us too far. Kibaki has failed, and Kenyans will not experiment with him any more. He will have nothing to loose, so he will be at his worst. Kenyans must hence seek that bridge that will realize our aspirations as Kenyans. Not as Luos, Kikuyus, Kambas et al. Odhiambo T Oketch Komarock Nairobi Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
