Re: WERA- Women Elite for Raila William Munene, I have understood you very well, and I like your sense of Justice. But something irks me, and for which, if you got it right, we will make a good Kenya. In 2002. President Kibaki got an accident, and the same Raila took charge. Our then VP predestined, the late Hon Mike Wamalwa also became indisposed, and he joined Kibaki in London recuperating. The work to mobilize Kenyans fell on the shoulders of the same Raila, whom you say has done nothing successfully. I would not quarrel with you, because even in class, we have students who fail to pass even simple exams. They must repeat each and every class. And I do not mean that you are such a student. If Raila has done nothing successfully, how do you explain Kibaki having failed twice to win the presidency in 1992, and in 1997? In both instances, President Kibaki had taken charge of his campaigns by himself. And he failed twice! But you see Munene, you can fail twice, then instead of giving up, you get a bright student to sit the exams for you, and then you pass. For Kibaki, Raila single handedly marshalled the troops for him with his now famous saying, 'the captain is injured, but the game continues.' And Kibaki passed the exams. And we all know this, for this is a fact of the Kenyan history now. Immediately Kibaki took over, he went with the same Raila, whom you call a failure to Central Province, and at every stop, your people called him Jamba, whatever that meant. He was hotter than all those politicians shielding Kibaki. He was in demand my brother. And that is all that Raila wanted, to see one united Kenya where a Luo could be called jamba in Central Kenya. A country where all of us see each other as Kenyans. Then things changed. I would have wanted to be informed at what point Raila ceased being called a Jamba, and what made that change? Honesty my brother, is what will make us have one united Kenya, with Raila as our president. Odhiambo T Oketch Komarock Nairobi Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
