Re: What a shame - fellow Kenyans are such a disgrace From: Rodgers Akombe Ochola,
In reference to the case where some Kenyans were arrested for identity
theft you said:
These words are coming from the mouth of a man who has been crying
foul claiming that his candidate is being discriminated because
he is Luo. You are an example of those who fuel and fan tribal fires but
cry like little children when a hot coal lands on them.
If you go down the list of names, you will see suspects from
different ethnic/racial groups. You will see Americans and Kenyans (Kambas,
Kisiis, a Kikuyu, ...). How it became a Kikuyu affair is puzzling!
One thing you have to remember is that you are a Kenyan. Nobody
in the USA gives a damn if you are a Luo or Kisii. Your passport has the court
of arms of Kenya not those of Kisii or Meru. You stand to be
PROFILED as a Kenya for the sins of a few Kenyans and Americans
who thought they could steal from the IRS and get away with it.
And how can you link one of the biggest African economies with
crimes committed by a few? Raila tried to link our economy with drugs but
he failed to gain political mileage from his statements. He had to accept
the facts and claim to have made the growth possible when he was a minister.
You too will fail because we know very well that most Kenyans are hardworking
hence the recent growth.
As Kenyans in the USA, we should not be ashamed. The suspects
are Kenyans yes but that is no reason why we should take blame for the crime.
Taking blame as a community will be welcoming the profiling that some xenophobes
in the USA are ready to subject us to. We will be watering down the good
that 99% of hardworking Kenyan are known for. Every market has its own madman.
Kenya is not any special. We have good and rotten people and so does every
community in the world.
My brother Ochola,
We teach people how we want them to treat us. You can be
treated as garbage if you teach people to treat you as such.
Kenya is bigger than Raila, Kalonzo and Kibaki. I see no reason
why we should drag communities and politics into an issue like this one in
a ploy to seek votes for our candidates. Our reputation as a community is
in jeopardy and it is our obligation to resist the attempts to make this
a KENYAN TAX
FRAUD because it is not. If you look at his chart prepared
by the prosecution you will see why our interests as a people should come
before cheap politics and tribalism.
Take notice of the title, the flag and the map of Kenya.
