Re: Paul's dilemma Wananchi, The article from Pastor Absalom Birai ( Paul's Dilemma ) is testament to what most of us are going through today. If you want to know how insightiful, touching, powerful, and moving this message is go visit Jaluo.com. My brothers and Sisters from the Lake never wink when they see something worth the read to the larger crowd. Don't get me wrong; sometimes it is good to ashame the devil and share remarkable positives! For years some people in Kenya were and are still caught up in the politics of mythical destruction: Moi was a primary teacher kalenjins wanachunga ng'ombe a luo cannot become President in Kenya kikuyus are thieves kamba women are loose kuingia mombasa ni rahisi kutoka ni matanga Aids inaua watu mombasa na kisumu pekee wajaluo ni werefu because they eat fish wakimbiaji Kenya ni wakale tupu! usioe mlhuyia atatoroka usiku na kuku na mayai, etc Wananchi, stereotypes and negative thoughts about so-and so will not build bridges in Kenya, put money in your account, or help you succeed. Let us thank God Kenyans, we are indeed a blessed society no matter how you look at it. President Moi led Kenya for 20+ years and I'm told he is enjoying his retirement package with broad smiles and probably reading my postings. I was at Kericho High School for four solid years where Kalenjins, and Kipsigis pupils in particular, performed wonderfully well academically. Those people know mathematics maybe because of the additions and subractions from the many dairy animals they keep and sell. Hindsight tells me if I hadn't studied there, I could be back home with a wife and many kids sitting under a big tree, waiting for our member of parliament to deliver the goods! Hindsight! Anybody in Kenya is able and qualified to lead the Nation as President. Raila Odinga is ready and will vie, and I'm sure some politicians are soo nervous the man is fully qualified! Please don't even try raise a finger! I attended Naivasha Primary Boarding School, I lived in Mombasa with my elder bro, and have travelled here and there. Most of my genuine and great friends are Kikuyus. One of my brotherly trusted right hand man on-line is brother Joseph Kuria Mwangi. If you raise a finger on me Brother Kush will deal with you kakafoniously! The stereotypes "Kikuyus are thieves" is a bad statement this day and age! Shame on us! I have never met a Kamba woman who is said to be "loose". The few I know are staunch christians and I respect them tremendously. If I ran into any Kamba availables I will look her in the eye and present my resume with honour and gratitude. As I said, I lived in Mombasa on-and- off in between school holidays. I never experienced any notion of not being able to leave the Island. Yes, there are many upcountry people who've lived in Mombasa for years without moving upcountry based on a number of reasons: employment economics distance life-style comfortability climate attachment familiarity freedom democratic society Maybe they feel Mombasa is a better and nicer place to live. I don't see any reason as to why one should not live anywhere they feel is nice to them. Therefore I don't agree on the notion "kuingia Mombasa ni rahisi kutoka ni matanga". The Aids scourge and the Hiv virus is a national phenomena and tragedy, period! Try educate wananchi, we stop and limit the spread and protect ourselves against infection. It is no longer a big secret. This is a disease that is everywhere now! Luos are smart and intelligent because they work hard, follow school rules and regulations, limit politics in schools, and they know how valuable and important education is. We all do but we play the blame games at times! Let us pull up our socks and stop falling on the way side! If you eat fish today, does it mean tomorrow you will do mathematics better? I ask myself! Education is an on-going process! The best Kenyan runners have been from everywhere. Wote ni wananchi! Kipchoge Keino Naftali Temu Mike Boit Henry Ronoh Nyandika maiyoro Ruth Waithera Wakihuri Paul Ereng Paul Kipatanui Alfred Nyambane Yobesh Ondieki Kennedy Ondiek Peter Wekesa Elkana Nyangau Billy Konchellah, etc It is stereotypical to think Lhuyia women are mischievous. This is a bad one. Let us respect everybody! Kind Rgds, Steve M.Gekara ------------------------- "Elimu ndiyo msingi wa maendeleo" Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
