RE: WERA- Women Elite for Raila From: William Munene Guys: I keep wondering, what is Raila gonna do that the predecessors didn't or couldn't do? I know it's a way of campaigning but it's over the top. As "good" and "likeable" as Raila is, I am not sure if there is anything that he has picked from the ground, moulded, see it nurture and mature - he doesn't follow and come through. Raila is a wonderful politician but he doesn't have what it takes for the top CEO job - He is an Al Sharpton of Kenya - he likes bickering. The other thing is that Raila is not a National figure. In Kenya, it doesn't just take anyone to be an elect president, you need to reach out, be known and well liked all over the country. Raila is over-popular in Kibera but I would like to know what he has done for his slum dwellers ever since he got into that seat. If he can't start or engage in bringing changes to his constituents how do we expect him to take over a country? That would too big of a job for him - has he done anything in his own turf? Oh! I might be wrong, the sofa-set, radio and a suit days are probably fading, so we need to HUMMER them like nothing else. If Kenya that people wants is not the present one, of which I agree 100% since the security has been a major concern among other issues, it doesn't necessarily mean that Raila is the only candidate of choice. We have other well knowledgeable and popular individuals who would be more popular and commendable but we haven't gotten to that point yet. Kenyans have decided to "return the river back to the stream". (this is a direct translation of a saying) - I am sure you understand. I would expect Raila to form another party or revive his Luos Demonstration Party - [is that what acronym LDP stand for? Please forgive if I messed up] I also think he might join KANU if things don't go his way by Mid-August. Raila will not step down for anyone and Odinga Dholuos Party - ODM, will not come close to any quantifiable figures. This tells you that all these guys are not fighting for the country, they are up for poplularity, greed and power so when it comes down to hungry voters, "Kula kwa Raila, Kura kwa Kibaki". Have a great week!! Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
