Jaluo ok nyal telo? what are our options? Ne ok ang'eyo ni kare kabinde moko gi ochayo Jaluo mana kama. Infact I share the pain of Raila Odinga when he reportedly shed tears when such a statement was uttered him, by people who hitherto, he thought responsinble. Kare paro moro ni jogi ok dwar Jaluo ni osemana chopo at that high level? En adieri ni wan jo Kenya ok nyal goyonwa ombulu e telo? If people at the level of former cabinet ministers can harbour such strong sentiments against Jaluo, do we have a progressive future in the unitary government system? are we slaves? are we servants? are we incapable? are we lesser beings? what drives this hate.? I know sometime we have streotypes about communities, but mostly they are sidetalks and would not feature at a meeting of such senior citizens. for instance, you are unlikey to find a Luo minister or senior official pointing to his Kikuyu colleague and telling him at an official forum that " kiuks are thieves"! something has really gone wrong and we cannot continue like this forever. the Luo as a community must come up and defend themselves against this most unnatural and degrading discrimination. If we have compelling evidence that Kenyans are looking at Raila interms of his Luoness, and not at his leadership qualities, then the Luo man and woman will have been justifiably provoked. Ladies and gentlemen, lets not allow future generations of Luos to suffer social and ethnic discimation on top of the already visible economic one. lets not recoil our tails between our legs and sit in cowardice. there comes a time when a people have to defend their heritage and rights, NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES. and looks like that time is not far away. There is no happiness living in servitude and perceived human incompleteness. Wuod Luo Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
