Re:2007 countdown:Luo MPs " besieged" All, Every now and then I receive these articles with exergarated titles but when you begin to read them there is no material in the body of the article to support the title. Leo Odera Omolo is the master at this and now we have Jeff Otieno. He says that Kajwang is besieged, why?, because he said his rivals will back him. Whats the big deal about that and who can prove its not true, politicians say that kind of stuff all the time. We need these writers to start giving us the meat about current MPs and the aspirants. We want to hear the projects that these guys are involved and what they done for their communities. You don't have to be an MP to help a community and any aspirant who is just getting things done in the year of the election should be rejected totally. MPs have been in charge for 5 years and if they have nothing to show for they should be kicked out. All we keep reading is influential, wealthy, youthful, bespectacled, business magnet, was former this and that, his clan is big ger than the other, he is a friend or enemy of Raila, nakadhalika. Tell us what these people have done to the community with their wealth, influence, and age. If the writers are so inclined to tell us that these people wear eye glasses then throw in their weight, height, whether they are bald or have full hair, whether they walk with a limp or use a walking stick. C'mon, people, we need to know our MPs and aspirants and these writers should do their research. Find out what the MPs did with the CDF money and just don't tell us the committee is full of his relatives and friends. In politics you appoint your supporters to some positions, not all, so that cannot be the only misuse of CDF money. Its my opinion that this CDF issue will break or make some current MPs but we need good data to make a sound judgement. A political leader must support MPs and aspirants that they are comfortable with and will support their agenda in parliament. The last 2 elections, 1997 and 2002, had major events that made some MPs household names through their work for the party (NDP, LDP, Narc, ODM-K) and in parliament (voting and debate for the constitution). Some MPs will return to parliament because they are needed not only by their constituent but also by their party. So while at the constituency level an MP could be summarily dismissed by these writers, the party may decide that they need him/her and will do everything to get them re-elected. Thats is politics and it happens the world over. A political leader like Hon. Raila Odinga must have his candidates and cannot assume that every MP or aspirant support his agenda just because they are his neighbors. He will therefore campaign for his candidates directly or indirectly and thats why you see his name being thrown here and there in these articles. However, when the Raila factor is thrown in there, give it some meat. Tell us why Raila should or should not support that MP or aspirant. I also wish Raila could have campaigned for my MP, the late Orinda Sibuor, RIP wuon Okun. en an, ja Oyuma Market Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
